Eleanor Lakelin

EleanorLakelin studied Cabinet-making at City and Islington College (1995-6) and London College of Furniture/Guildhall University (1996-8). She was the first woman to win the annual Austin’s Prize for Craftsmanship in Wood in 1998. After leaving college Eleanor set up her own business to design and make furniture and functional objects in wood for both retail outlets and to public and private commission. Eleanor’s work has been featured in many publications including Living Etc ,Ideal Home and Furniture and Cabinet-Making and exhibitions and shows have included 100% Design ,East London Design Show, Crafts Council and New Ashgate Gallery. In the last few years Eleanor has been turning wood on a lathe to make both functional objects and decorative vessels and she is the recipient of the Cockpit Arts/Worshipful Company of Turners Award 2011. Her most recent work features wet-turned vessels and sand blasted pots.
